As artificial intelligence becomes more powerful and accessible, it’s not just transforming cybersecurity—it’s challenging it. In this 60-minute session, we’ll explore how AI is being weaponised by threat actors for phishing, deepfakes, automated attacks, and social engineering. We’ll also discuss the unintended risks of using AI within organisations, such as data leakage, overreliance, and bias. Designed for both technical and non-technical audiences, this session aims to raise awareness of the real-world threats AI introduces and offers practical guidance on how to defend against them.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this session, members will be able to:

  • Identify how threat actors are using AI tools to enhance cyber attacks (e.g. deepfakes, AI-generated phishing, automation).
  • Recognise the internal risks associated with using AI, such as data exposure, hallucinations, and unintended outputs.
  • Understand the role of AI in evolving threat landscapes and how it changes traditional cybersecurity defence models.
  • Apply principles of responsible AI use within an organisation to reduce risk and support compliance.
  • Assess emerging threats related to generative AI and identify practical steps to monitor and mitigate them.

*this event is only accessible to Cyber and Fraud Centre members.
