Both organisations will join as strategic members, contributing to the Centre’s mission to drive practical solutions to the evolving threats and challenges facing organisations today.

The Advisory Board will bring together expert voices from across sectors to explore key topics in cyber and fraud, beginning with two key areas: stolen data on the dark web and threat intelligence including geopolitical intelligence.

Jude McCorry, CEO of the Cyber and Fraud Centre – Scotland comments:

“We are delighted to welcome both Weir, and Scottish and Southern Energy as strategic partners. Their respective expertise in engineering, industrial systems and critical national infrastructure makes them invaluable allies in our mission to enhance cyber preparedness and resilience across Scotland.”

The Board will convene quarterly and will evolve its membership based on the topics being addressed. Founding members include leaders from cyber security, finance, law, energy and industrial sectors, ensuring a broad and practical perspective.

Scott McElney, Chief Information Security Officer at Weir said:

“As a supplier of technology to the mining industry, Weir operates at the forefront of digital transformation in a sector increasingly targeted by sophisticated cyber threats. The impact of cyber-attacks extends far beyond manufacturing, affecting critical mining operations and the entire supply chain. By working together across regions and sectors, we can strengthen our cyber resilience and safeguard critical operations and resources. We’re pleased to join the Advisory Board and collaborate on practical solutions to these challenges.”

Iain Dougan, Head of SSEN Transmission OT & Cyber adds:

“As a custodian of critical national infrastructure, SSEN Transmission understands the serious impact a cyber-attack could have on energy systems and the communities that rely on them. We are excited about this partnership, having seen first-hand the outstanding work delivered by Jude and her team. Joining the Cyber and Fraud Centre – Scotland’s Advisory Board allows us to collaborate with leading experts and turn intelligence into actionable strategies that strengthen resilience and keep power flowing to homes and businesses. This partnership reflects our commitment to innovation, security, and the communities we serve.”

Beyond Scotland, the Advisory Board will actively engage with organisations and agencies across the UK and internationally, to ensure maximum connectivity on national cyber issues. By keeping Scotland ‘at the table’, the Board will contribute to intelligence and insight to wider conversations, while ensuring Scottish organisations remain fully connected to the broader cyber ecosystem.

Far from being a passive forum, it will be an active, solutions-driven group that collaborates on projects, delivers key recommendations and drives practical, actionable outcomes to address the most pressing cyber and fraud challenges.
