Would is surprise you to know that 97% of disability hate crime goes unreported?
Could you do more to help the vulnerable members in your community?
The national network Keep Safe are looking for businesses in the community to help. They need more Keep Safe Venues and your business could maybe help.
Keep safe is a program put together by the I Am Me Scotland charity who work closely with Police Scotland and are supported by the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal service.
They are seeking to increase their network across the whole of Scotland and are looking for businesses to join the 900 that have already signed up to be a Keep Safe Venue. This would mean when a vulnerable member of the community feels lost, scared or overwhelmed when out and about, they have a number of designated safe places they can attend to seek help, a friendly face or even just a place to sit down for a few minutes to compose themselves.
The initiative is free to use and well received across many vulnerable sectors. The users can download the Keep Safe App which will list the available Keep Safe Venues close to them. They can also carry a Keep Safe Card which contains details such as health, communication needs and emergency contacts.
Keep Safe encourage all local businesses to participate where possible, and help the vulnerable members of our community to live a life, free from the fear of crime.
