Google has released a critical security update for Chrome, addressing a zero-day vulnerability actively exploited by attackers. This marks the eighth such fix for Chrome in 2023, highlighting the importance of maintaining browser security.

The vulnerability, tracked as CVE-2023-7024, could allow attackers to gain control of a user’s computer through malicious websites or phishing emails. This could lead to data theft, malware installation, and other serious consequences.

“While the technical details of this vulnerability are complex,” explains a Google spokesperson, “the potential impact is significant. We urge all Chrome users to update immediately to protect themselves from this threat.”

The update is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux users. Chrome users can update manually through the browser settings or simply restart Chrome, which should automatically download and install the latest patch.  User of other Chromium based browsers, Edge, Brave, Opera, Vivaldi etc, should also check for patches and update accordingly.
