The Cyber and Fraud Centre – Scotland is proud to announce that core training offered through its Cyber Skills Academy is now officially CPD (Continuing Professional Development) accredited.

Commitment to CPD quality training

This milestone underscores the Centre’s commitment to delivering high-quality, relevant and accessible training to help individuals and organisations build essential cyber resilience skills. From introductory awareness sessions to technical incident response training, the Academy offers something for every level of cyber knowledge.

The accreditation is already making an impact, encouraging more businesses and professionals to upskill and improve their understanding of cyber threats. This is especially crucial as:

  • Just 11% of UK businesses say their non-cyber staff have received any formal training, and
  • Two in five (39 per cent) SMEs haven’t arranged cybersecurity training for their teams.

That’s despite four in 10 (42 per cent) small businesses having suffered a cyber attack in the last 12 months, increasing to two in three (67 per cent) for medium-sized companies*.

Growing demand for cyber training

The CPD accreditations comes at a time of growing demand for cyber training, as cyber has again been brought into the spotlight following a number of high-profile incidents over the past few months. Over the summer, the Centre will meet this need for upskilling while remaining committed to its social enterprise mission – giving back to communities through free cyber training and advice by delivering free Intro to Cyber Security sessions for charities, startups and other sectors, which will benefit more than 300 organisations.

Katie O’Neill, Head of the Cyber Skills Academy adds, “CPD accreditation validates the quality of our training and helps organisations trust that they’re investing in meaningful skills development. Whether you’re new to cyber, or building on existing knowledge, our training is designed to be engaging, relevant and immediately applicable.”

What training is CPD accredited?

The CPD accreditation covers the Centre’s:

  • Cyber Executive Education Programme – a full day session for senior leaders covering board-level responsibilities and how to manage a cyber attack.
  • Intro to Cyber Security for Staff – entry-level training for any staff members to learn the basics of cyber security.
  • Secure Leaders – a customised half-day session for senior teams and board members.
  • Building and Testing an Incident Response Plan – simulating a live incident for an organisation to test its response strategies, assess team readiness, and identify areas for improvement in a controlled environment.

In addition, members of the Centre will also receive additional monthly CPD-accredited training sessions on topics such as Creating the Right Cyber Culture.
