Police Business Resilience Team Warn of Increase in Metal Theft

A high-value theft of scrap metal took place from a secured warehouse in the Blantyre, South Lanarkshire area overnight on the 31st of October 2022.
Preventions:
As we see the cost of living rising and a squeeze on household budgets, we typically see a rise in thefts of metal and valuable car parts.
Preventative advice for businesses:
- Do your security controls measures up to what you are trying to protect?
- Are they working and maintained properly?
- Work as a community, speak to other businesses and look out for each other’s interests.
- If it looks suspicious report it to Police Scotland on their non-emergency number 101 or 999 if a crime is in progress.
