We have been gifted two complimentary places on the SANS cyber defence course SANS Foundations: Computers. Technology & Security (SEC275), worth $999 each, and would like to share them with two of our See It Be It: Women and Girls in Cyber Security community, who want to build real world skills.

The SANS cyber defence course Foundations: Computers. Technology & Security is the perfect starting point for anyone new to cyber security or those looking to build a solid technical base.
Designed with beginners in mind, this cyber security foundations course covers essential concepts like operating systems, networking, security principles, and hands-on skills with tools used by professionals in the field.
Whether you’re exploring a new career, supporting security teams, or preparing for advanced training, SEC275 provides the critical knowledge needed to understand and engage with cyber security. With engaging content, practical labs, and expert instruction, the winner will gain the confidence and capability to take the next step in the cyber world. No prior experience required just curiosity and a drive to learn.

What the prize winner will learn
The course covers the foundations of cyber security in 13 modules:
- Computer components and concepts
- Linux
- The Web
- Networking Fundamentals
- Servers and Services
- Practical Programming and Concepts

By the end, students will be able to demonstrate programming skills in Python and C, understand the fundamentals of networking, encryption, and Linux, and will have covered all the core elements of operating systems, the web and security concepts.

How to enter
To be considered for one of the two places:
- The course must be completed within four months of starting.
- The winner must begin the course within one month of being told they are selected.
- The winner will need to commit to the 38 hours of learning.
- To enter, email your name to [email protected] no later than midday 17th December 2025.
- Winners will be notified in early January 2026.
Competition Terms and Conditions
- Prizes are non-refundable and non-returnable.
- The prize covers the SANS Foundations course only – no additional expenses are included.
- Entrants must be part of the See It Be It community – young women and girls looking to enter into cyber security or move up the ladder in their cyber security career.
- SANS has recommended that the course is aimed at university/ higher education/ very early career, or someone looking to support an entry level career into cyber security career.
- One entry per person.
- Winners must start the course within one month of confirmation.
- Winners must complete the course within four months.
- The Cyber and Fraud Centre – Scotland reserves the right to withdraw the prize if deadlines aren’t met.
- No cash alternative is available.
- Winners will be selected at random.
