A survey undertaken by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and Charity Digital finds that almost a quarter of charities across the UK faced a cyber breach in 2020 (NCSC, Charity Digital, 2022). With almost half of the third sector organisations endevouring to create new cyber security training for staff and supply chain, the fight for secure cyber security should not stop. Third sector organisations are specifically targeted due to the sensitive data they hold, as threat actors can sell this information outside for a large sum. Charitable organisations can also be targeted by threat actors as a stepping ladder to gain access to other state organisations.
